Corefficient Introduces Georg TBA 1000 to Support Large Power Transformer Market

Corefficient is proud to announce a major new chapter in our growth story: we’re officially entering the Large Power Transformer (LPT) market. What’s powering this move? The addition of a brand-new Georg TBA 1000 cutting line, a powerful new piece of equipment that allows us to serve transformer manufacturers with precision-cut cores for larger, utility-scale applications.
We’ve served the transformer market for years with high-efficiency cores, but this expansion gives us the ability to support the next tier of scale. It’s something our customers have been asking for. Now we’re ready to deliver.
Meeting the Moment: Why LPTs Matter
The demand for LPTs is growing fast. Across North America and around the world, utilities are updating aging infrastructure while trying to keep up with new pressures from renewable energy, EV charging stations, data centers, and overall electrification. Large Power Transformers are central to all of it. They regulate voltage across the grid, making reliable energy delivery possible on a massive scale.
But LPTs are also complex. The cores inside them need to meet exacting standards for efficiency, stability, and performance. There’s little room for variation, and even less for error.
And with supply chain reliability now front and center for OEMs and utilities alike, the ability to partner with a supplier that delivers quality, consistency, and speed has never been more important.
Built for Scale: The Georg TBA 1000 Advantage

To meet these demands, Corefficient has installed the Georg TBA 1000 lamination cutting line at our facility in Monterrey, Mexico. This advanced line is specifically designed to handle the size and precision requirements of the LPT market.
Key specifications include:
- Lamination Width: 100 – 1020 mm (3.94” – 40.16”)
- Steel Thickness: 0.18 – 0.35 mm (0.007” – 0.014”)
- Minimum Sheet Length: 600 mm (23.62”)
- Maximum Sheet Length: 5000 mm (196.85”)
This means we can now cut long, wide laminations with exceptional accuracy and consistency. Combined with our existing fleet of AEM and Georg cutting lines, the TBA 1000 gives us unmatched flexibility and throughput.
Precision-Cut Mitre Cores with Value-Added Assembly
If you’re building large dry-type or oil-filled transformers, you need a core partner who can deliver ready-to-use components that meet tight specs.
With the Georg TBA 1000, we can now offer fully assembled mitre cut cores designed to your requirements, or we can help engineer the design from the ground up. Our Step-Lap cutting capabilities and assembly services reduce your time on the floor and keep your production moving. You send us a drawing. We send you a core that’s tested, certified, and ready to go.
And because these cores are produced with the precision that Georg is known for, they help reduce no-load losses and meet today’s strict energy efficiency standards, including those set by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Designed for Efficiency from the Inside Out
Every element of our facility in Monterrey is built for quality and repeatability. In addition to our cutting lines, Corefficient offers:
- Annealing Furnace: Our rolling hearth furnace has a throughput of 6,000 lbs. per hour and is essential for stress relief in DG wound cores. The proper annealing cycle restores the full magnetic properties of grain-oriented steel, critical for maximizing transformer performance.
- On-Site Core Testing and Certification: Every core we manufacture is tested to ensure it meets or exceeds customer specifications. Our in-house laboratory includes Epstein testers, single sheet testers (SST), and Franklin Value testers. We provide full documentation and certification with every order.
- Paint Chamber (upon request): For customers who require coated cores, we offer on-site painting capabilities to streamline your production process.
These in-house capabilities ensure Corefficient delivers not just parts, but performance. From testing to traceability, everything is engineered for confidence.
Still Doing What We’ve Always Done (Just on a Larger Scale)
Even as we expand into the LPT space, we’re continuing to do what we’ve always done best.
We’re still manufacturing DG wound cores using our AEM lines. These cores are a staple in modern transformer design, especially where space, efficiency, and thermal performance are a priority. And like our mitre cut cores, they benefit from the same full testing and annealing process.
Entering the Large Power Transformer market marks a major milestone for us. But it’s also just the beginning. As the grid evolves and electrification accelerates, we’re excited to grow alongside our partners, bringing the same trusted service and engineering excellence to an even broader range of transformer applications.
Ready to Build Together?
This is a big step for us, and one we’re excited to share. We’re entering the Large Power Transformer market with purpose, with capability, and with a team that’s ready to make it happen.
If you’re building large transformers and looking for a core partner who’s responsive, reliable, and ready to scale with you, let’s talk.
We’d love to show you what the new Georg TBA 1000 line can do.
